We're so excited to have our first maker feature, that isn't us (if you missed it, check it out here - Handmade Scarf | Maker Feature). Sometimes we think this little hobby of helping you out is a lot of work not going too far. And then, our little inbox starts to fill up and we feel all good about the time put in. Just the other day, we opened our inbox to find our first blog feature application had been completed. It finally happened. We launched our new website recently and instead of thinking twice and triple checking every last button - we hit launch. We put it all out there and you makers are responding. Thank you so much for helping make this all worth it. We love handmade items so much and are so excited to be supporting them too. The business side of the interview...
Tell us more about your company - what's your business' story or something unique that we'd love to hear?
We're located way up north in Cochrane Ontario, where the polar bears roam! We make all our handmade wood signs and décor by hand with no laser cutters or CNC machines. We are a small business but ship worldwide.
How did you get started selling? What made you finally take the leap?
We were in college, and broke. To pay for textbooks and groceries, we started making Christmas ornaments out of wood and sold them online and on campus. This lead to custom orders and eventually paint parties, craft shows & markets and worldwide shipping.
Are you a full time or part time maker? Either scenario, tell us what a day in business looks like for you? What’s your favorite part, what part would you rather hire out?
We're both part time and full time makers. We have careers from 9-5, but we hustle over 40 hours a week on this business. #TeamNoSleep Our favorite part of being a maker is seeing the Customer Share photos. They make us keep going. We love seeing our clients happy. One thing we would rather hire out is the shipping process. Finding boxes for all our different sign sizes can be a struggle and is more expensive than most people think!

What is your favorite colour? Why?
Our current favorite colours (because it changes weekly) is black and gold. They are timeless, classy colours that work with everything.
What’s your favorite part about home? Are you a homebody?
Our favorite part of our home is our dogs. We have two amazing shop dogs that can be seen on our Instagram account rolling in sawdust, chewing on wood and being SO cute.

Growing up, what did you always want to be?
Always wanted to be a mermaid...because who doesn't want to spend their days lounging on rocks in the sun with beautiful salty, wavy hair?
