Being stuck at home has us thinking that it would be fun to create another free print. We realize home is what it's all about these days, so we made this fun print "home is every moment spent with you". Because really, that's what it's all about when you're with those you love most. We can make home anywhere, but we want it to be with those who make that time our most cherished memories.

free print - home is every moment spent with you

So, when this isolation is all lifted and life returns to a new normal, this print will be perfect. The chaos in our lives will resume, and we will just have those far and few moments with those we love, that will remind us that home is really that time spent with them. It's not a dwelling or a place of shelter - it's a feeling you get when you're surrounded and enjoying life with those you love.

We'll stop getting all sentimental and gushy on you. We tend to ramble a little. Before we do anymore, here it is, just click here to download and save or print a copy of the "home is every moment spent with you" print for yourself.

Did you know? We design our free prints on Canva? We are not affiliated or sponsored, but just want to share that it's fun and easy to create your own too. There are free and paid options, we've done a little bit of both. Just design, print at your local print shop (or home) and have it framed for around your home. It's that simple.

Before you go, we just ask one favour in return for the free print - share it with your friends. If you print it and use it, be sure to post it on social media and tag us to let us see. Or, leave a comment below and tell us where you'll definitely be hanging this new fun decor. And if you're "stuck" at home, remember this time of change will soon be changed to a time of chaos and full schedules outside of the home.

It's hard to believe we're almost through April already. We've been upping our Instagram feature game and are also back for another blog feature again this month. Today we're featuring Anita and Ana from Beed Design. A company out of Toronto with some pretty fun home decor designs. We won't spill too much of the details and let you read this fun quick interview for yourself. If you'd like to be our next month's feature, be sure to apply - we'd love to have you too!

Ava + Anita from Beed Design

What is your name and company?
Anita + Ava - Beed Design

Where are you from?
Toronto, ON

What do you make?

The business side of the interview...

Tell us more about your company - what's your business' story or something unique that we'd love to hear? Does your company contribute back?

We are two friends who have passion for art who also use 100% Canadian Ingredients.

How did you get started selling? What made you finally take the leap?

We both loved art and we were at one of our places and we were bored as other friends were talking about boring stuff. I saw my colleague had some art stuff she made so we said we should start a business together and no one believed us. A few months later we were selling our stuff!

You’ve just booked your biggest craft show yet, what’s the first thing you must do? What can’t you leave home without? What is your least favorite part? Any craft show pet peeves? Tell us the unexpected.

We recently participated in HolidayFairTo event which was held at Nathan Philips square in Toronto for 15 days and we sold our home decor. The downside of it was that the event was outside in the cold weather and there were days with weather being -20 degrees so you can imagine... It was a good experience in general but the event was very expensive to get a booth at so we probably won’t be doing that again.

Are you a full time or part time maker? Either scenario, tell us what a day in business looks like for you? What’s your favorite part, what part would you rather hire out?

We both have full time jobs and work on our products at night. We do science in the day and art at night!

How do you come up with new ideas? Are you a purchase the materials and go for it first, or come up with the idea first and go from there?

We get inspired by watching a lot of art videos and also spending a lot of time at Michaels and Desseres stores :D

What does your dream storefront look like? Is it online or brick and mortar, do you work all week long, do you have employees, etc?

We always dream of opening our fancy little cafe that we serve cute little desserts and have all of our products on a corner of it to sell.

Now the fun personal side...

What is your favourite colour?

We both love turquoise and hence our logo is this colour!

Where is your favorite place to travel?

Banff.

What is your dream job?

Someone who owns a little cafe in Paris.

You can only adopt one, which would you choose, a dog or a cat? Why?

Obviously dog! Cats are selfish :D

Easter weekend is going to be much different this year. For us, it means sticking to home with two little ones and an extra day of no plans to keep them busy. We got thinking, we should definitely come up with some fun plans to make our family celebration just as much fun as any other year, even though it will look a lot different. So, we've gathered 5 fun ideas for Easter that we came across over the past week or so. We hope these help keep everyone busy over the long weekend, while we all spend it at home.

Cinna Bunnies - Cinnamon Bun Bunnies

These are definitely being made at our house this weekend. The cute idea was found on Kristen Sellentin's Instagram. She didn't have a recipe on her post, but we've got you covered for that one. We've been loving on the homemade cinnamon bun recipe from Fraiche Living. She uses the fresh white bun recipe (also found in her cookbook with Jillian Harris - Fraiche Food, Full Hearts) and takes her Granny's tricks to make the best cinnamon buns out there. Check out her recipe, Granny's Cinnamon Buns, and when you're done cutting them, uncurl the last strip and make the cutest ears on those buns for the perfect Easter finish.

Easter Bunny Paper Dolls

How fun are these Easter bunny paper dolls? You can order these and so many other paper dolls from Kody Stewart Illustrations (Etsy). You can purchase the digital files, print moments later and be on your way to a really fun afternoon. And just for reference, these ones are only CA $7.50. That is a great price to keep all ages busy. Something unique and different. Print a pair for the whole family and see how everyone chooses to give them a different look of colours. We think these are so fun and very old fashioned, something even the grandparents would take joy in (just leave them on their doorstep with their treats).

Dip Dyed Easter Eggs

We love nothing more than to dye eggs each year and add them to the collection from years passed. As a child, we used real eggs. Poking the holes in each end with a pin and then blowing with all of our might to get the egg to empty out. Nowadays, we settle for the plastic ones. But, we don't toss them at the end of the season - we actually collect them and add more to them each year. Our baskets are getting pretty full (those are them, pictured below). It's a bit of a messy job, but very fun none the less and something that will pass a couple of hours on your Easter weekend.

Here's the recipe we use:

Dip Dyed Easter Egg Recipe (for Plastic too)
Recipe makes 1 colour*

1/2 cup hot water
1 Tbsp vinegar
20 drops of food colouring

*FOR PLASTIC EGGS: split the water/vinegar above into two and add colours. You may need to add even more food colouring, depending on how dark you would like the eggs. We find soaking them for a few minutes allows the colour to stick better.

Coffee Filter Eggs

This was a stay at home school project for us this week. Get out the coffee filters, scissors and markers. Our little ones did these in no time and they loved watching the colours grow and blend. They are super easy and add a cute little decoration for Easter weekend. Start by cutting multiple coffee filters into an egg shape. Next, place dots of marker on the filter, fold them in half (loosely, don't crease) and place on an empty plate. Drop small drops of water on the filter and watch the colours spread and blend. Unfold and lay out to dry. When you're done, you can create a fun bunting like we did (pictured below).

White Chocolate Mini Egg Cheesecake

This no bake white chocolate mini egg cheesecake looks so delicious. We know making it would be a huge hit, and fun way to spend Easter afternoon with those extra Easter chocolates. We can't wait to try it and hope you can't either. Don't want to make cheesecake, but still want to bake with Mini Eggs? Head over to the mini egg cheesecake recipe and there are many more links in her post to other delicious looking recipes.

That's a wrap on our 5 ideas for a fun Easter weekend at home. We hope you have lots of fun and enjoy that extra quiet time at home, doing something you love. We know that this isolation thing has really changed the way we do a lot of things, but we also want to make sure we're making the most out of it and finding fun in the different ways we can. We'd love to hear what ideas you have for your Easter weekend that others might love as well. Be sure to leave your comments below.

Wishing you a very happy Easter!

Hippity Hoppity Easter's on it's way and we've decided to share some of the fun items Canadian Makers have been posting. We've been scouting all over Instagram to bring you some fun, unique and absolutely Easter worthy gift ideas. We can't wait for that bunny to show up, and are so happy he's been deemed essential where we are. Now, let's check out some of the amazing talent we're just loving these days.

This felt bunny from Süßka Bear is absolutely adorable. Did we mention its hand stitched and they donate a portion of sales back? Seriously a win win. You get this fun little addition and others benefit too. If you're not a fan of bunnies (well other than the Easter one), they have the cutest other animals too. We can't help but love them all.

Spring brings Easter and warm weather... and of course, ice cream. Okay, who are we kidding, we enjoy ice cream year round. But, these are the cutest toys for those Easter baskets. The play dough is from Hello Dough and the cute cups (cones) from Little Peg People. Something that will keep those little ones busy for hours and those play dough colours are so much fun!

Hello Dough // Little Peg People

How cute is this spring floral sweater from Fawn + Feather? We love everything about it and the other clothes they make for kids and babies. With celebrations limited this year, why not trade the dresses in for this cute sweater they can sport all spring long? We just love the colours and fun print. Definitely a spring closet must.

Fawn + Feather

These fabric earrings are too cute. Craft Me Chic makes some beautiful handmade gifts and accessories. We think these are so fun for the special weekend and spring. We're loving the colour. Perfect addition to the baskets or to treat yourself.

Okay. Anyone else all about the fiber arts? Atelier Macadabra makes these really cute rainbow key chains, as well as some really amazing other items. We just love strolling through their IG feed and checking out all that creativity. Another cute little addition to an older ones Easter basket.

Paper flowers are all that and more. No need to water - we're sold. These are so fun and perfect for spring. We're thinking a cute addition for a little ones spring room, an Easter table center piece or even something to add fun to your home office. Really cute for any space really, checkout CS Crafty Creations to get your own bouquet.

Adorable. A felt bunny crown from Felt Me Knot is a must. This is an accessory that will keep that little one happy for days. Pair it with a beautiful dress for the special day or let them play dress up and hop around the house for and afternoon. We can just see the big smiles when they discover this beautiful crown is all theirs. Too cute not to include in your Easter musts.

Felt Me Knot

This whole outfit is so much fun. Found on Rosie + Lilou, who makes the most adorable bibs - you can catch a small glimpse of it in this image. The adorable bunny bonnet is from Seedling + Sprout, honestly that fabric is the cutest - the floral ears. And lastly, that comfy spring onesie can be found over at Lulu + Tot. Are we the only ones that wish we could reach out and feel that precious purple fabric? It just looks so comfy. Defintely an adorable Easter outfit.

And our last favourite for today, are these cute print hair clips. That print is so much fun and the perfect accessory to take us from Spring to (shall we say it?) Summer. Perfect for all ages, of course. Be sure to pop over to Little Sparkle and Co. to get your own.

Okay, how much fun was that round up? We hope you love these handmade items as much as we do. Be sure to pop over and show them some love and support a small handmade business. We'll be sharing more Easter fun over on our Instagram (@HandmadeCanada) as well. Happy Easter to you all, we hope that bunny pops by to spoil each and every one of you.

This last month has been a roller coaster. What started out as us being on vacation, followed by isolation, followed by Canada shutting down... it's time to take a deep breathe and hold on. More importantly, we're just happy to report we are healthy, with our family and hunkering down for the long haul. And, hopefully finding more time to support you. We're hoping you're all doing well and hanging in there... this last month was a little short on posts with vacay, but here's what you may have missed.

Just a quick post. Without talking too much about the elephant in the room these days, we've created this fun little post you can share on your social media to get some extra love. Whether it's now or three years down the road, it's just a quick reminder for your followers that one small gesture can go a long way. And hey, it only takes a minute or two to make it happen.

View this post on Instagram

We can all use a little help. We’ve created this fun post for you to share. You can only ask for one of the above a day. Today we’re needing some love, we’re asking for ❤️. Go ahead - your turn to post - use this image... have some fun, get a little support and don’t forget to hashtag #staystronghandmade to help each other out!
A post shared by Handmade Canada (@handmadecanada) on Mar 27, 2020 at 6:06am PDT

We posted this just today and so many of you are sharing and having fun with it. The general idea is you either share it in your story or your feed. When you do so, pick the colour of heart that means the most to you that day (only one). Let your followers know what you need a little extra love with. If you put it in your story, circle it, underline it, whatever... just let them know. If you post it in your feed (wall), just leave the colour of heart in the message. It's that easy.

We've created two images you can use, depending on where you'd like to post.

Story:

Feed/Wall:

It's that simple. Lots of fun. For added bonus, use the hashtag #staystronghandmade so other makers can find you and help out. And if you tag us, we'll be sure to pop over and try and help you out.

March is quickly getting away from us. It started with a much needed vacay, now a staycay (okay work from home / isolation)... but we're not talking about that situation. This is a much happier blog post. We want to keep things upbeat, and there isn't a better way than with another maker feature. Littles & Spice filled our inbox with images and an interview that we just couldn't stop reading. We're very excited to share this handmade business with you. We won't keep you waiting any longer, we hope you enjoy it as much as we did!

What is your name and company?
Sarah - Littles & Spice

Where are you from?
Calgary, AB

What do you make?
Handmade Heirloom Children's Garments

Where can we find you and start shopping?
Instagram: @littlesandspice
Website: www.littlesandspice.com

The business side of the interview...

Tell us more about your company - what's your business' story or something unique that we'd love to hear?

What an honour to be shared on an all Canadian blog! We work hard at creating timeless pieces that tell a story. Heirloom inspired and we aim to create quality pieces that will be passed down from one child to the next and the next. We are all about recycling fabrics and reducing waste wherever we can. We often create limited edition drops and use all recycled fabrics as well ❤️

How did you get started selling? What made you finally take the leap?

I got started selling my items by accident. My second daughter was very spirited since birth and I found myself wanting to escape to my sewing machine for some solace. I start sewing things for my girls, then friends. Then I shared a few things on my Facebook and the orders literally came pouring in from my sweet and kind friends. It made me think hard about what I wanted to do with this new “surprise business”. I created an Etsy account for a short time and then made a legit website I was proud of! I have never looked back. I LOVE fabrics. I love how the changes Of seasons bring new Colours and inspiration ❤️

There are hand makers around the world, we’re bound to meet up with someone that makes something similar. Tell us how you keep your product unique. Also, do you change things up season to season, year to year, etc? Any advice for others who are wanting to find their own style?

This question is fully loaded! My best advice is to “stay in your own lane” basically, create something you love and DO IT WELL! Don’t worry about what others are doing. Get creative and think outside your box. Anyone can pop on the gram and take an idea or be inspired by an idea. Both of those are very different things. Be inspired by creators that have walked the road before you but don’t copy. There’s so much room at the table for creatives. Let’s inspire each other!

Now the fun personal side...

What is your favourite colour? Why?

Fav color is blush! Omg. I light up when I see that color. I’m drawn to it on flowers, dresses, fabrics, wallpaper etc. I also have been blessed with three girls 💕

Would you rather spend your vacation at the beach or sight-seeing?

100% -at the beach. Sun, sand and well, the pool are my fav things!

Salty or sweet? What is your favorite of the one you chose?

Can I pick salty and sweet? Peanut m&m s are my FAV!

What’s your favorite part about home? Are you a homebody?

I am 100% a homebody. I love the warm sun just off my kitchen in the afternoon. I also love the coziness Of my bed.

Something unique about yourself that nobody really knows?

This is kinda crazy but a bird has pooped on my head in five Counties before I turned 25!
1. Canada
2. United States
3. Australia
4. Thailand
5. Africa
I wish I was kidding 😂 but I have read it’s a sign of luck?’l! Lolz

Thank you so much Sarah for giving your time to us and letting us in on the person behind Littles & Spice, how it all started and some advice for others. We truly enjoyed it, and can't wait to team up for a fun giveaway or promotion in the near future - something we'll be doing lots of soon. In the meantime, show Sarah some love:
